Dr. Richard Idro MBChB, MMED, PhD

Dr Idro is a Senior Lecturer at Makerere University, Honorary Consultant Pediatric Neurologist at Mulago hospital in Kampala, Uganda. His research group is studying the pathogenesis of brain injury and the neurological and cognitive sequelae of parasitic central nervous system infections and brain injury in sickle cell anemia. Dr Idro also holds the 2015 African Research Leadership Award through which he is studying the pathogenesis and treatment of the poorly understood nodding syndrome. He sits on committees at the WHO and the International League against epilepsy.
