Dr. Fiona McKay PhD

Fiona’s research has focussed on using multiple sclerosis (MS) susceptibility genes to understanding MS pathology and therapeutic targets. From in vitro effects of individual polymorphisms, through to dysregulation of MS susceptibility genes and corresponding immune cell subsets in whole blood; she is now working towards therapeutic manipulation of these cellular targets and their role in pathology. Fiona also works on the immunology of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis; particularly the use of regulatory T cells to mitigate neurotoxic inflammatory processes and slow disease progression.
