A/Prof. William (Bill) Phillips PhD

William (Bill) Phillips completed his PhD in developmental neurobiology at the University of Sydney. After four years of postdoctoral studies at Washington University in St Louis he established his own group back in Physiology at University of Sydney studying the molecular mechanisms of neuromuscular synapse formation. Working with clinical collaborator, Stephen Reddel, Bill’s group developed a passive IgG transfer model that proved that MuSK autoantibodies cause myasthenia gravis and mapped out the distinct pathophysiology of this form of the disease.
