Prof Michael Pender MBBS (Hons I), MD, PhD, FRACP

Professor Michael Pender is a clinical neurologist and has been undertaking research in the fields of neuroimmunology and multiple sclerosis (MS) since 1980, with the focus initially on the pathophysiology and pathogenesis of experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis and subsequently on the pathogenesis and treatment of MS. His current research focuses on the role of autoimmunity and the Epstein–Barr virus (EBV) in the pathogenesis of MS and, with collaborators, on the treatment of MS with EBV-specific T cell therapy.
