BIOGRAPHY

Dr. Jessica Osterhout PhD
Department of Neurobiology
University of Utah
Salt Lake City (UT), USA

Jessica received her undergraduate degree in Biology with an emphasis on molecular neuroscience at the University of Oregon, where she worked in the laboratory of Dr. Chris Doe studying neuroblast self-renewal in drosophila. She received her PhD at the University of California, San Diego with Dr. Andrew Huberman where she uncovered cellular and molecular mechanisms governing axon-target matching during visual system development. She completed her postdoctoral training at Harvard University with Dr. Catherine Dulac where she discovered the neural mechanisms underlying the generation of fever and other sickness behaviors. In 2022, Jessica started her independent laboratory at the University of Utah where she addresses how the immune system and the brain communicate to generate multifaceted physiologic and behavioral responses to infection.
