Dr. Manu Rangachari is a Professor in the Department of Molecular Medicine at Université Laval, and is cross-appointed as a University Researcher at the Quebec City University Hospital Research Center. Dr. Rangachari’s research involves 4 key themes: the interplay of sex hormones and chromosomes in progressive CNS autoimmunity, the role of B cells in progressive disease, interrogating the function of putative biomarkers of advanced MS, and studying molecular mechanisms that underpin inflammaory T cell fate decisions. Dr. Rangachari’s group recently described a T cell adoptive transfer model of relapsing/progressive disease in which male T cells induce particularly severe outcomes, mirroring the clinical observation that males are more prone to worsened outcomes in progressive MS. Dr. Rangachari’s research has been funded by the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR), the MS Socety of Canada (MSSOC) and the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC). He conducts peer review for journals such as MS Journal, Cell Reports, Science Advances and J Clin Invest, among others, and is a Senior Scholar of the Fonds de recherche du Québec – Santé.
